Education in China

Education sector in China includes private education, studying abroad, training and online education.

Chinese private education institutions continue to witness strong growth. The number of Chinese students studying abroad continues to grow, particularly those from third and fourth tier cities. The US, the UK, Australia and Canada are among the major destinations of Chinese outbound international students.

Training has become a point of growth in the Chinese education market. Traditional education institutions, as well as online educations giants, are eager to make inroads to the training sector.

Foreign investment has flowed into the Chinese education market, although the market is yet not fully opened to foreign investors. In response, foreign universities look to setup student recruitment offices to work with Chinese companies promoting international education, introducing specific schools and programs to Chinese students. Training companies, including language, cross-cultural and professional training schools, use online training as the way to conduct business without wading into the heavily regulated school sector.
